What we do
Organisations like the World Health Organization, the United Nations and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publish a great deal of data about weight and health. It is free — but often buried in spreadsheets and technical reports. We bring it together for 200 countries and turn it into maps, charts, games and plain-language explanations.
Our editorial rules
- No made-up numbers. Every figure comes from a named public source or is calculated from one, as explained in our methodology.
- Always cite. Every chart shows its source, and every quotation links to the original.
- Plain language. We write for everyone, whatever their background, and explain technical words in our glossary.
- Respect. We describe populations, not individuals, and never use the numbers to blame people.
- No ads, no tracking. See our privacy page.
- Not medical advice. For questions about your own health, please talk to a doctor or nurse.
How the site is built
The data is processed with open-source tools, and our own calculations are checked against figures published by WHO and the CDC (see the methodology). You can download the processed data from our downloads page.
